Bridge over the River Wye

Manchester based Bethell Construction completed the contract and associated highways works for the new access off the A6, over the River Wye into Riverside Business Park.

The new access road is part of a major regeneration scheme which will see the delivery of new employment and business accommodation on the Peak Districts largest home for business in the town of Bakewell. Funded by D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership this provided Litton with the opportunity to continue with the delivery of the bridge during challenging times during the height of the pandemic. During this time significant progress was made elsewhere on site including the construction of 11,000 sq.ft. accommodation.

Removal of occupied buildings will form part of another demolition package before the new bridge can be brought into use. Temporary ramp access has been designed which Litton hope to be able bring the bridge into use in early 2022.
